The Problem

One billion meals wasted daily

Buffets, hotels, and caterers throw away edible food every night while millions struggle to afford a meal. Our social design brief: pick a problem we see every day — and design a real response to it.

Visual Identity

Warm, bold, impossible to miss

Rammetto One + Poppins. Yellow, red, and green — energy, renewal, sustainability. A flame logo that gives surplus food a second life.

The Concept

A second plate for surplus food

Restaurants and hotels list surplus meals at a fraction of the price. Orders flow through delivery platforms people already use — Talabat, Deliveroo, and Uber Eats. Facilitators, not saviours.

The Work — Research to Reality

Website, mobile app, packaging, and campaign

Four weeks of research came first — 13 hotels and restaurants interviewed, plus an anonymous survey. Then full production: a marketing website, a business-facing app, sustainable packaging, and an Instagram presence.

Impact & Outreach

Food saved, partner retention, and carbon diverted from landfill — how the service would measure success.

Outcome

A complete service, designed end to end.

Brand identity, website, business-facing app, sustainable packaging, Instagram campaign, and an impact-tracking plan — a conceptual project, never launched, but fully realised by a team of five.

Reflection

What I’d push further

A pilot with one real restaurant, usability testing of the listing flow with actual kitchen staff, and building out the consumer-facing side of the experience. The concept earned it.
